Since a young age Susan Burns has been fascinated by the excitement, power, and curiousness of horses. Susan states that "I admire and am fascinated with the horses that I know. Excitement, power, sadness, curiousness, fear, anger, frustration, kindness, pain and tolerance are human attributes as well as ways we describe our horses." Susan's connection to horses is evident in her paintings, drawing the viewer in to the painting for its emotional and aesthetic content. Professionally, Susan received a B.S. in art education in 1976 from Daemon College in Buffalo, N.Y., and a Master of fine arts at State University in New York at Buffalo. In addition Susan studied with Irving Shapiro at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Mundelein College, and Loyola University.
